I started talking about intuition when I wanted to say how important it is for dream interpretation. It depends on you whether this will happen hard or easy. But do not forget:
Dreams are your inner world, your future, they are sent by your best partner - your subconsciousness. The dreams are connected with you, they show where you find difficulties, what you are trying to avoid, what you are short of, what you don't notice and what you have to do. Before you start interpreting the dreams you should make it clear that all dramatic personages while asleep - that is you (except for the cases when it is obvious that the character from your dream is your child, relative, colleague, etc, but even then they are some kind of an reflection of your own).
There are some rules by John Kehoe in order to help yourself in interpreting the dreams:
- Entitle your dream. The title may be even meaningless, but it can turn into a key towards interpreting the dream. The title often comes naturally. Sometimes it may be just a sensation, a feeling. Even then - write it down.
- Imagine that your dream is a play and analyze it using the following points:
- Introduction. Artistic arrangement of the dream and meaning of the problems concerned in it.
- Plot. Action, course of events.
- Conclusion. How does your dream end? Has the problem that was laid out been resolved? What is hiding behind this end?
When you analyze your dream using this plan you can ask yourself questions as of what are its main symbols. What might be their meaning? What associations with your past do they evoke? What do they tell you? Very often with this analysis, when asking yourself these questions you give information to your subconsciousness as to how exactly you perceive given symbols. In this way you specify the language through which you are going to communicate. To a degree this resembles that film game whereby somebody has to explain to his team, without using words, the title of a film said by the other team. The one who explains may play a scene from the film or to move in a particular way and thus to suggest to his teammates a particular word or action. When they guess the meaning of what was presented he continues with the next word or action. It is the same with the dreams. The subconsciousness shows you something, until you grasp it. When you guess, it proceeds with the next one. It is good if there is an exchange of information between you and the subconsciousness in order for the process to be easier.
Example: I see a book in my dream
What does the book mean to you - that you should learn something? Maybe you relax through the book? Or the book is a symbol of efforts for you? Or of knowledge? Maybe it means a new world where you want to be?
Which of these?
Specify it - give information to the subconsciousness as of what does the book mean to you. Then it will use it as a message only in this way.
In this way - little by little specify the language you'll be using to communicate with each other.
- 3. Analyze your emotional state in every moment of your dream: this is the key to interpreting the meaning of the symbols. Do you feel relief, horror, uncertainty, unusual surge of energy? Maybe you have dreamed that you have become a witness of a murder, but instead of become frightened you have felt joy and excitement. You have waked up and felt discomfort because of these feelings. The key to the interpretation hides in your feelings at the moment of the murder. What part of your life should be changed (killed)? Will you feel joy and excitement if such changes take place? What changes in your life can this dream direct you towards? Consider all possibilities.
After that wait for the interpretation. It comes intuitively! So, do not look for dream-bookers! Look at the plan above - the subconsciousness is yours, the intuition also, as well as the dreams. How can then somebody else interpret them for you? I am sure you will succeed if you practise.
Sometimes it takes some time for the meaning of the dream to reveal. The interesting thing is that even if you get the meaning after 15 days, you know very well which dream it is about. No matter that during these 15 days you have written down other dreams as well. Usually it takes several days or weeks before the dreams start taking a shape, and sometimes even this time is not enough. But even if you haven't succeeded into explaining to yourself a particular dream (in the beginning you will be able to explain to yourself just one out of four), there's no place for concern. The dreams that I have been writing down for four months work throughout two years already. So, each dream, if remembered and correctly interpreted, has a long-term effect.
Now I leave you blank space so you can write down:
